The event will be for Team Leaders and their guests who register for the film competition before noon on Thursday, August 3.

The Film Competition: The heart and soul of the 48 Hour Film Project remains the talented Tampa Bay filmmakers who have the chance to go on to compete around the globe. The films span various genres and narratives, vying for the coveted top honors. The competition aims to celebrate the power of storytelling through the lens while recognizing exceptional creativity, innovative techniques, and compelling narratives. A distinguished panel of judges, comprising seasoned industry professionals evaluates each entry meticulously to select the winners.
The kick-off will be a combination of in-person and virtual to allow participants beyond the Tampa Bay area to be a part of the competition.
Red Carpet Premiere and Awards Ceremony: On August 31, the films will be shown at the AMC Westshore Theatre at a red carpet premiere screening. It’s a great way for filmmakers to show off their work and for film lovers to support the local film community and get access to movies before anyone else. After the screening of the films, a Q&A will be held with the directors and producers.
The red carpet will roll out again a few weeks later during an elegant and fun awards gala. The dazzling event will bring an Oscar-type vibe to the competition. The Best Film will go on to compete globally with the top films being shown at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.

About the 48 Hour Film Project: The 48 Hour Film Project is an annual international film festival that celebrates the art of filmmaking.
Filmmaking teams have just one weekend to make a short film. All creativity—writing, shooting, editing and adding a musical soundtrack—must occur in a 48 hour window beginning on a Friday evening and ending Sunday night.
The competition consists of beginners to pro’s and takes place on different weekends in different cities throughout the year.
