Excitement Builds as the Annual 48 Hours Film Project Awards Ceremony Draws Near

The 48 Hour Film Project Ready to Celebrate Local Filmmakers

Filmmakers, cinephiles, and industry professionals eagerly await one of the area’s most anticipated events of the year – the Annual 48 Hours Film Project Awards Ceremony. The prestigious event, which celebrates the creativity, talent, and dedication of filmmakers from around Tampa Bay promises to deliver a night of glamour, excitement, and recognition for outstanding cinematic achievements.

The 48 Hours Film Project, a global filmmaking competition, challenges teams to write, shoot, edit, and produce a short film in just 48 hours. Local filmmakers from the Tampa Bay area have spent an adrenaline-fueled weekend bringing their visions to life, and now it’s time to honor their hard work and creativity.

The Awards Ceremony takes place this Wednesday, September 20 at The Portico Community Hall. The red carpet fun begins at 6:30 p.m. and the show begins at 7:00 p.m.

The Awards Ceremony features the screening of the top films produced during the competition, showcasing the incredible talent and dedication of local filmmakers. A panel of esteemed judges had the challenge of selecting the winning films in various categories, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Sound Design, and many more.
The Best Film winner goes on to compete globally at “Filmapalooza” with the top winners there being screened at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.

In addition to the film screenings and awards presentations, the evening includes the opportunity to network with fellow filmmakers and industry professionals. If someone wants to join the industry, but not sure how, the Awards Ceremony allows people to learn more in a casual, relaxed way. Attendees can expect an unforgettable evening celebrating the magic of cinema.

“The 48 Hours Film Project pushes creative boundaries, testing one’s filmmaking skills, and fostering a sense of community among filmmakers. The Awards Ceremony is the culmination of this incredible journey, where we come together to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our local filmmaking talent. So many people talk about making a film ‘some day’, but this competition takes it from being a dream to a reality,” said 48 Hours Film Project Tampa Bay City Producer, Wendy Robbins.

The event wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of our sponsors, The Consumer Protection Firm, Some + Psyche, Affari Worldwide and Dandelion Publishing. Their commitment to the arts and the film community has helped make this year’s 48 Hours Film Project a resounding success.
